Some Features And Selection Tips Of Mechanical Pipette

Generally, pipette can be categorized into two types: mechanical pipette and electronic pipette. However, we will see more mechanical pipettes sold on the market than the electronic pipettes. Similarly, the mechanical pipette also can be classified into 3 types: Standard series, Advanced series and Advanced Plus series.

Features
Standard series and advanced series are semi-sterilized, while advanced plus series are fully sterilized, so plus series are more recommended for biology application.
All tip parts are made of PVDF, not suction.

Each manual pipette can be divided into single-channel range adjustable, single-channel fixed range adjustable, 8-channel range adjustable and 12-channel range adjustable.

Advantages
The Manual pipette is designed to provide comfort and quality for daily operations. It pays more attention to humanization and durability. This kind of pipette combines durable construction, ease of use, and portability, making it the best choice for professionals. In addition, a mechanical pipette has a wide range of pipettes, including a fixed range pipette, for applications that require a preset capacity to avoid measurement error.
Multi-channel range adjustable: fast work-flow; adjustable spacing between the suction heads; prevent unexpected shifts.
Single-channel range adjustable: low resistance(easy to control); comfort;corrosion resistance; autoclave sterilization.

How to Operate Mechanical Pipette
First of all, do remember not to set the knob beyond the measuring range, otherwise, the internal mechanical units will be got stuck and thus damage the pipette.

Secondly, it is about the assembly of pipette tips. We can vertically insert the pipette into the tip and rotate the pipette slightly to the left and to the right several times, then the two parts will be connected tightly. Moreover, it should be noticed that we cannot knock the tip box hardly, because this will make the internal parts of the pipette, including the spring, become loose due to the instant impact force, and even make the scale adjusting knob get stuck.

Thirdly, before we absorb the liquid, we should use our thumbs to press the button to the first stop point and keep the pipette upright. Next, we can insert the tip into the liquid and keep it 2 to 3 mm under the liquid level. Finally, we loosen the button slowly to the original point and take out the pipette.

Lastly, we move the pipette into the container, and press the button to the first stop point to dispense the liquid. Then, we pause for a moment and keep pressing the button to the second stop to expel the residual liquid. At last, we loosen the button.

How to select pipette, there are types tips and significance tips for us.
(1)Types of Pipette Tips: Pipette tips are a kind of consumables designed to avoid cross contamination, which is often used in molecular biology, cytology, virology and other experiments. For experiments with high sensitivity requirements, or precious samples or reagents that are easily disabled, a low adsorption tips can be chosen to improve the recovery rate. The surface of the low-adsorption tips has been hydrophobically treated, which can reduce the residual of the low-surface tension liquid in the tips.

(2)Significance of Pipette Tips: Liquid users usually have a lot of considerations when choosing pipettes, such as accuracy, hand feel, brand, tips adaptability and so on. However, in the selection of tips, the user’s attention is far less than the purchase of pipette time. There is no shortage of high-cost imported pipette, but save money to buy consumables. In fact, the quality of the tips will have a significant effect on the accuracy of fluid transfer. If the pipette and the tips match use accuracy is not good, then the tips and the pipette seal is not guaranteed, so that the results of each operation cannot be reproduced.
