Air Tightness Test for Caps and Septa
Experiment purpose:
To compare the airtightness property of Hawach cap and PTFE/Silica septa and the same type products of a world well-known brand A;
Experiment process:
Firstly, inject 1 ml ethanol and DI water into 2 ml Hawach and brand A sample vial, and then use a microneedle to insert the cap and septa separately for every 30 mins, weigh them after every injection, and record the result.
Experiment result and discussion:
As shown in Table 1, we can see that after 5 times injects and a period of evaporation, the total evaporation weight of ethanol for Hawach and brand A are 0.003g and 0.002g separately, corresponding to the mass loss rate are 0.08% and 0.06% for them.
From table 2, the total evaporation weight of water for Hawach and brand A is 0.001g and 0.002g separately, corresponding to the mass loss rates are 0.03% and 0.06% for them.
Both the ethanol and water mass loss rate are smaller than the standard level of 1.5% ± 0.5% and the test result of Hawach is very similar and even better than the one of world-famous brand A, which indicates that Hawach caps and PTFE/Silica septa have very good airtightness when using no matter in an organic solvent and water content solvent
