Most of the pipette tips in the manufacturing process are added to a small number of additives, such as color materials and release agents. The color materials are the addition of corresponding chromogenic materials to polypropylene; the release agent is often used to help the pipette tips to detach quickly from the mold after forming. Of course, the more additives, the higher the probability of undesirable chemical reactions occurring in the liquid transfer process. So it’s better not to add additives. Causes and Solutions
For fluid-spilling or inaccurate volume in the fluid transfer process, it is possible because the pipette tip is too loose, the unmatched suction head is used, the vapor pressure of the transferred liquid is large, the suction head moves out of the liquid at a speed too fast, the piston is contaminated or the piston is damaged. For the above questions, it’s better to tighten the pipette tips, clean and lubricate piston, replace piston or sealing ring.
For non-smoothly moving lever, the possible reason is that piston contamination, seal contamination, or solvent vapor infiltration. In this case, it is better to clean and lubricate pistons, disassemble the pipette tips, clean sealing rings if necessary.
For the blocked fluid in suction, it may be caused by clogging of the suction head in connection, and the trouble can be removed by removing the suction head with hot water or rinsing with distilled water.
Working Principle of Pipette Stand
The working principle of the pipette stand is that the piston realizes the suction and discharge through the telescopic movement of the spring. Under the piston push, exhaust part of the air, use atmospheric pressure to inhale the liquid, and then the piston pushes the air to discharge the liquid. When using the pipette stand, the speed and strength of the pipette can be well controlled with the flexibility of the spring.
Pipette Stand Standard Operating Procedures
1.Setting the Volume of Liquid Transfer
When adjusting from large volume to small volume, for the normal adjustment method, the scale can be rotated counterclockwise. When adjusting from small volume to large volume, the scale can be adjusted clockwise to exceed the set volume first, and then callback to the set volume, which can guarantee the scale degree.
2.Assemble of Pipette Stand Suction Head
The step is as follows: insert the end of the pipette stand vertically into the suction head, turn left and right slightly, and tighten it up.
3.Absorption and Discharge of Suction fluid
The suction head should be immersed into liquid about 3 mm, the suction process and release process should be slow, and the spring expansion speed should be under proper control. When liquid is released, the suction head should lean against inner wall of container.
