How to Choose the Right Sample Vial

Hawach sample vials are available in three types: screw top, crimp the top, and snap top sample vials. Reducing the possibility of sample evaporation, crimp caps provide the tightest seal. Compared to crimp tops, snap top sample vials can be applied and removed by hand more easily. And the unique thread design of screw-top sample vials ensures a permanent and firm seal.

You can find clear glass for maximum visibility or amber glass when you work with light-sensitive products for protection from UV rays. With full lines of different kinds of sample vials, Hawach provides the cleanest products on the market. and the cleanliness which is certified can reduce the appearance of impurity of measuring results.

How to correctly select and use sample vials and related products is particularly important for the efficiency of the experiment, the experimental process, and the accuracy of the experimental data. There are at least three aspects that need to consider, the sample vial septa, cap, and vial material.

1. About the choice of sample vial septa
PTFE / silicone
Recommended for multiple injections and sample storage;
With excellent resealing characteristics;
Chemical resistance of PTFE before piercing, the septum will have chemical compatibility of silicone after piercing;
The working temperature range is -60 ℃ -200 ℃.

Pre-cut PTFE / silicone
Provide good ventilation to prevent the formation of a vacuum inside the vial for excellent sampling reproducibility;
Eliminate clogging of the bottom needle after sampling;
Good reseal ability;
Recommended for multiple injections;
The working temperature range is -60 ℃ -200 ℃.

2.About the choice of cap
Screwcap
The sealing effect is good without any tools.

Jaw cap
Aluminum jaw, good sealing effect, reducing the possibility of sample volatility;
High-temperature experimental environment, more resistant to high temperature;
To be used with jaw tools.

Bayonet cap
The sealing effect of the bayonet cap is not as good as the other screw cap and jaw cap;
The push-fit bayonet cap is ideal for storing powder samples and is not suitable for transporting liquids;
If the fit of the cap is very tight, the cap will be difficult to close and may break.

Integrated septa and cap
Ensure that the septa and the cap are always together during transportation and when the cap is placed on the sample vial;
Prevent the septa from falling during use;
Avoid excessive evaporation and keep the vial properly sealed.

3.Vial material
The glass sample vial is generally divided into low boron and neutral, the difference is that the content of borosilicate and the physical and chemical properties of the glass are also different. HAWACH can provide sample vials of two materials. For high-throughput laboratories, low borosilicate glass is recommended.

HAWACH sample vials are produced according to the requirements of the international standard, which can reduce your consumption in the experiment and save time. This series of products reduces the analysis error caused by ghost peaks, syringe damage, and septa movement, which can largely avoid analysis failure and achieve sample reuse.
