About the Status Quo of Bottle-Top Dispenser Calibration

Like other daily supplies, we need to consider the bottle-top dispenser’s performance, durability, and other aspects, like easy operation and safety, etc.

1. Performance
By performance, we mean dispenser accuracy and repeatability. For most users, it is difficult to check the performance of the bottle-top dispenser before purchasing. Therefore, it is mainly based on the technical data provided by the manufacturer, and carefully checking the written materials provided by the manufacturer.

2. Durability
It mainly depends on the materials used. For example, the housing should have high impact resistance, corrosion resistance, and low thermal conductivity (such as PVDF material).

3. Easy operation
In order to make the operation more convenient, you can choose a liquid discharge tube with a safety handle, even if you transfer liquid to a very thin test tube, it will be ok.

HAWACH provides bottle-top dispensers of high quality that are easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to maintain for the lowest total cost of ownership. What’s more, all the bottle-top dispensers have verification certificates issued by the authority. If interested, welcome to ask HAWACH to offer.

Usage and feature of bottle-top dispenser
The bottle-top dispenser is an instrument for accurately measuring liquids and it can be used manually or automatically, featuring high precision and high speed. It was born in Europe in the 1960s and is a specialized device used in quantitative dispensing of acid, alkali, salt solution and organic solvent. Due to its convenient operation and precise scale, it has been increasingly and widely used in biological and chemical fields in recent years, as well as various laboratories such as clinical medicine and food inspection, drug testing, water quality monitoring, and physical and chemical analysis.

Domestic bottle-top dispenser calibration
With the increase in the use of bottle-top dispensers, the need for verification or calibration has also increased. However, there are no verification procedures or calibration specifications for bottle-top dispensers in China, and there is no uniform verification or calibration method. As a result, the value of the dispenser can not be traceable, and it is impossible to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of various laboratory test data.

Many metering technical institutions calibrate the bottle-top dispenser with reference to the Pipette Calibration Protocol, but the maximum capacity of the pipette is 10 ml. The pipette verification procedure only specifies the displacement of the nominal capacity below 10 ml. The metering performance requirements of the liquid meter, the verification method is also only applicable to the metering device of the small volume of the pipette. The bottle-top dispenser can measure 200μm to 60mL of liquid, far exceeding the measurement range of the pipette, and the accuracy is higher than the pipette. Therefore, the pipette verification procedure is completely unsuitable for the bottle dispenser.

Abroad bottle-top dispenser calibration
At present, there is no domestic verification method for calibrating the bottle-top dispenser. Some international manufacturers have established the production standards for bottle-top dispensers, such as the German Herschmann, the American Thermo Fisher, the German EPPENDORF, and other internationally renowned production laboratory instruments. The method of factory inspection of the bottle-top dispenser are stipulated in the production standards, but the specified inspection content is small, and the specifications of each manufacturer are also different, and can not be used as a method for verifying/calibrating the bottle-top dispenser.
